The Bipolar Stable Community brings together people diagnosed with bipolar disorder to safely and generously share, learn, and unlearn so we can tame our monsters, embrace our abilities and uncover our superpowers.
My story
My name is Dara Mouracade, and I was born in 1986 in Lebanon. I'm still trying to find my passion in life, and in the meantime, I'm learning to navigate my diagnosis and redefine stability.
I created this blog in 2020 to recount this journey and shed some light on what it means to be bipolar and find stability. I started it anonymously because I feared the stigma attached to mental health issues and wanted to protect myself. It took a bit of courage, but two years later, I decided to be more public about my diagnosis and to use my voice for positive social change.
I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 32. As a growing almost adult, I was unstable for the better part of my life. I did my best with what I had, but I missed so much because of crippling depressive episodes and mismanaged hypomania.
What now? Now that I feel stable enough to reach for the stars? Now that I can audit my emotions, skills, energy, strengths, and curiosity? Now that I can learn at 10x speed and apply what I’m learning? Now that I can advocate for myself?
What is the limit?
What is the change I am seeking to make?
Can I embrace this role publicly?
Can I put myself out there and create a community for people diagnosed with bipolar disorder to no longer see themselves as disabled?
The UAE coined the term “people of determination” for those who may identify as differently able, physically or mentally. It might not be the best way to phrase it, but it beats “disabled.”
I don’t feel disabled. And I feel more than determined. I feel superpowered.
I want others to tame their bipolar monsters and embrace their abilities fully.
The Bipolar Stable Community
My vision is to initiate and inspire positive change through my work by contributing to empowering people diagnosed with bipolar disorder to tame their monsters, embrace their abilities and uncover their superpowers. I will achieve that by fostering meaningful relationships with others, loving unconditionally, practicing kindness, and being open to forming new connections and opportunities for growth and self-actualization.
Anyone diagnosed with bipolar disorder should have an opportunity to learn about their diagnosis, understand it, and discover strategies to help them maintain their stability to flourish and thrive. bipolarstable.com shares lived experiences of people diagnosed with bipolar disorder and techniques to maintain the stability tested in specific circumstances so that others can learn, adapt and flourish. It is a community for people diagnosed with bipolar disorder to share their experiences, learn strategies to maintain their stability, and learn and grow and thrive together in a safe and inclusive environment.
